Before I go any further , heres something that will help you read my article. Some CTF vocabulary (mace, fill free to add any I forget without asking or putting a note at the end of it saying you put it there, just feel free)

CTF= Capture the Flag, if you don't know what that means by now. Get off this forum , now.

FC= Flag carrier

d= defense

o= offense

"i'll play midfield!"= Pretty much playing both defense and offense, usually this guy babysits the flag carrier, or if he dies he may take the flag.

Whore= Someone who spams a force power or weapon.

NOTE: IT DOESN'T MEAN YOUR DOING A BAD THING IF YOUR SPAMMING A FORCE POWER!!!, sometimes being called <insert gun>/<insert force power> whore is good. However, i wouldn't concentrate my whole CTF skills at that whoring ability you or someone may have.

Boon= Force boon, please tell me you know about this. If you see this, get it.

Walljump= It usually means, wallrun, then walljump backwards/forwards to get to a higher place.

Gun route= The best or easiest preferred route to get the best/most important guns and/or ammo.

Stalemate: When the red team has the blue team's flag, and the blue team has the red team's flag. This is where most gun/force/strafeing/thinking under pressure skills comes into play.


Saber noob: This is an insult given to people who sit and duel people in the middle of a CTF, they have no skill with guns whatsoever, nor do they even bother picking one up. They may also lack the skill in strafejumping, but they have to have these other qualities first to be called this. CTF is about your team's score, not your personal score or your "honor" in dueling in a CTF- Please cut the honor crap, save it for FFA.

Okay, that about raps it up for the vocab lesson.



Lets begin, shall we? Lets talk about Light side force first, because I think that is more important to learn FIRST *or master* before you start learning dark side. Don't get me wrong, dark side is IMPORTANT to learn. But you must get light side down first.

You SHOULD HAVE absorb , and team heal when your light side.

Protect. Im not too found of protect, you can't use it at the same time as absorb, and team heal/ Heal is WAY more effective, if your that in need of protection. But , however you must note that Protect takes of 90% of the damage you take, so its definately up to you and your situation.

Absorb is pretty much needed, and its helpful. If you've mastered strafejumping, then the first thing you'll be doing when you grab that flag is speed. You should then have 50 force left, *idealy* If there is a bunch of people chasing you, most likely you should put on absorb. And if you happen to pass by someone, you should be ready to use it the first sign of a pull. If you run out of your speed, but your absorb is on, and your low on force, you better just HOPE for a pull/lightning whore. Because then, you'll gain force if they do it to you, so much to the point that you can do speed again for a quicky get-away *when you pull/push/lighting, etc. on someone w/ absorb, they gain force...if you didn't know...*.

Heal....I've thought about this myself....and if your in a situation where there is no team back up for a team heal, and you have 50 force. If your health is vital at the time being *hopefully were talking about if you have a flag, if you don't have a flag and it's you were talking about, you should have killed yourself already*. Health is pretty much a MUST HAVE light power, go ahead, disagree with me, I kind of dare you. Why? Are your teammates 100% realible? Well, hopefully, but if they all die and they will NOT be around * at least yet * to team heal you in time if you have a horde of rocket whores on your @$$. You could possibly need health, and that could be your key to survival.

Team Heal. I don't care who you are, I don't care if your the flag carrier. If your light side, and you don't have this force power...your an idiot. If you have picked Heal over Team heal, then you need to be slapped. Not enough points? lose the saber points, trust me you won't be needing them if your THAT low on points. Even the flag carrier should use this, I do it all the time. If i have near full hp, im going to use it on my defenders. They will be more important to me (beides capturing the flag when my team's flag returns), because if I heal them, they can properly defend me BETTER. Sure, they could just /kill, but not if im getting whored, they better not. (when i say "I", I mean if i were the flag carrier). Team heal is definately a MUST HAVE.


Mind Trick. This makes it where the whole other team can't see you until you fire a weapon *or swing your saber*. It surprises the heck out of them if you grab the flag out of NOWHERE and capture.
You must use it on one of their teammates to make use of it properly. Usually a saber noob is the best one to use it on, or a pull whore. however, it drains your force quickly. This is a good thing for snipers, however i wouldn't say its a must have light force power. It's a good power to experiment with, and very good for snipering, also good for stalemates...walk up on the flag carrier and BAM he's dead.

Now for some dark force powers. I do NOT reccomend dark for offense, unless you have reliable teammates for team heal/force regen, and if you really know what your doing.


Dark force is very much so reccomended for defense. Someone take your flag? Rage+Speed yourself and use pretty much ANY gun (use a blaster and see how fast you can kill the guy with the flag) and you'll kill him pretty quick, unless you suck at aiming. Which i suggest you have some decent gun skills and your /cg_fov set at about 90-97 (i use 97, which is the max). This helps your aim.


Rage. As explained above, rage pretty much f*cking owns the Sh!t out at anyone in your way. It increases the rate of fire of your gun incredibly, and add speed to the mix and you have also a very fast movement speed. You'll probably kill a pull whore by the time he gets a clear pull aimed at you correctetly, and if he manages to pull your gun , you can just switch to another one or pull it back *if you have enough force*. Rage takes your health, but of course who cares about health if your not the flag carrier, or if your already getting teamhealed/force regen'd?. You can just kill yourself.

LETS JUST PRETEND YOU HAVE VERY RELIABLE TEAMMATES WHO LOVE TO SPAM TEAM HEAL AND FORCE REGEN FOR A MOMENT!!!!1111!!111!!11122

If you use Rage for offense, and you aim to get the flag. You'll probably shoot the heck out of them by the time they even think about who you are and where you came from. And if they do, your teammates will help you out, *not like they wouldn't even if you didn't use rage, but they'll be pretty stunned if you use rage right already*. They can then force regen AND team heal you, and your like new again, you get back to base. They steal your flag before you get there? you can probably get one of your trusty teammates to use rage and go beat his @$$, or you could probably do it too. However, rage does not increase your movement speed, just your attack speed, only in JO does it double your movement speed.

Rage is also very effective for defense. I once told shadowcast to use force regen on me, while he uses rage, and while i use rage i force regen him. The only thing we lacked was health, and heck, we could have thrown another guy into the mix with team heal. Every single guy that passed through us was pretty much killed *until a fast one got unnoticed*.

We had to kill ourselves a bunch for health, but we did pretty good.
Also note that Rage takes off 90% of the damage you take in, but because you are constantly losing health, it doesn't seem to help as it does theoretically.


Drain. I sometimes use drain, and i sometimes don't, thats just ME. Drain is pretty good, i would reccomend getting it. It drain's people's force before they can get to the base, or the people who are teamhealing the flag carrier, its pretty much a "supply block"in my own way of words. However, i wouldn't dare use it on somoene using absorb. It's
an instant "i'll give you force points" power if you do; It also gives you some health as well. I'd say its a MUST HAVE

Lightning. I wouldn't reccomend lableing this as a must have when going dark, but its good to use sometimes. Defeinately not all the time, but if you catch someone w/o absorb, you can really kill somone quick with this, combined with any gun you have in your possession. Try taking off your saber points sometimes and you'll have fists to replace them, that doubles the damage for lightning because you now have both hands free. If you see someone else with fists expect them to have lightning as well.

Grip. Same reasoning and explantion as lightning , although I really prefer lightning over grip. This isn't a must have, and lightning seems more efficient. Don't use this vs absorb.


Force Regen. THIS IS DEFEINATELY A MUST HAVE, the good thing about this is, if someone else besides you has this power, you can use it on them and they can use it on you, for an ongoing force feed. Then you can both use it on people who need it. SPAM THIS WHEN YOU HAVE IT, it only uses about 20 force (same as team heal). This goes great with rage. If you use this or team heal on a flag carrier, he will thank you deep down. Heck, i've thanked people for doing it to me lots of times, because in public servers it can be rare. This power and team heal are a flag carrier's best friend.
